Nice day for a white wedding....

White is the most timeless and classic colour for wedding flowers and can look stunning whatever your style or theme.

Contemporary chic

Phalaenopsis orchids are effortlessly chic and stylish.  They look fabulous used on their own in bouquets and tall table centres.  Alternatively, mix them with other choice flowers such as Hydrangeas or Roses for a stylish display.

Classic Elegance

Roses, Lily of the Valley, Stephanotis, Bouvardia are perfect for timeless elegant designs and their unforgettable perfume will be a lasting reminder of your special day.

Country Casual

Choose seasonal flowers such as Ranunculus, Freesia, Hyacinths, Tulips, Lilac, Anemones and apple blossom in Spring. Or in summer, garden flowers including Paeonies, sweetpeas, stocks and larkspur complemented with herbs can be used for a natural and informal look.

Remember:
  • very few flowers are pure white so there is no need to worry that they won't go with your ivory dress
  • concerned that a white bouquet won't show against your dress?  No need to be, the different shapes and textures of the flowers will be in contrast to your dress.
  • all white bouquets and arrangements need to be of all one type of flower for sheer impact, or mixed flowers with lots of variety in form and texture to give interest.
  • in church where the flowers may only be seen from a distance, or if the light is subdued, white flowers will be seen more clearly than any other colour.

Seven ways to make the most of your flower budget

Be flexible
Choose your 'must have' flowers and make sure these are included in the most important bouquets and arrangements.  Then trust your florist to source seasonal or abundant flowers to complement your choice and make your budget go further.

Double up
Take some of your church displays to re-use for your reception.  Pedestal arrangements placed at the entrance will welcome your guests or can be used to frame the top table.  Pew ends can be used on chair backs, to decorate a staircase or hung from wall lights.  Or, if your ceremony and wedding breakfast are at the same venue decorate the ceremony room with some of your arrangements, and then have them moved onto the tables for the wedding breakfast.

Accessorise
Use mirror plates to increase the impact of simple table decorations.  Add votives and fresh flower petals which will reflect in the glass to give an eye catching display.

Go large
Large flowers such as Amaryllis and Hydrangeas cost more but you need less of them.  They also give lots of impact in any situation.

Less is more
Fewer large displays are more effective than lots of small ones.  Look at your church/venue carefully and concentrate the flowers where they will be most visible.

Trust your florist
If you have a limited budget let your florist know.  They will use their expertise and experience to help you get the most from your budget without compromising on quality.

Re-use
If you are hiring containers or vases make sure the flowers can be lifted out of them afterwards so that you can give them to friends and family to take home and enjoy.
